White House Hosts Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood as Rocket Hits Israel

The Obama Administration has glossed over the hostile ideology of the Muslim Brotherhood and downplayed the recent crisis in bilateral relations that was provoked by the politically motivated decision by Egypt’s transitional military government to prosecute pro-democracy non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Secretary of State Hillary Clinton recently announced that the U.S. will continue delivering $1.5 billion in annual aid to Egypt, despite Cairo’s provocative behavior.


CNN: Islamic terrorist met with top Obama admin. officials at the White House

CNN reported yesterday that an Egyptian lawmaker who admits on his official Facebook page that he is part of a known Islamic terrorist organization, Gama al-Islamiyya, was given a visa and allowed into the country with other Egyptian lawmakers to meet with top officials of the Obama administration, including Deputy National Security Advisor Dennis McDonough at the White House.

Brotherhood officials, speaking as supporters turned Cairo’s Tahrir Square into a roaring sea of flags and chants of “Allahu akbar!” (God is greatest), said they would press on with protest vigils to demand that the ruling military council cancel this month’s dissolution of the Islamist-led parliament and a decree which gave the generals powers that will restrict the president.

“Speak! Have no fear! The military must go!” crowds chanted on Tahrir Square, seat of the Arab Spring revolution which prompted fellow officers to push Mubarak aside to appease the protesters.

There were some isolated scuffles in parts of Cairo between rival groups. Several hundred Shafik supporters in the middle-class suburb of Nasr City chanted “Save Egypt! The Brotherhood will destroy it!”, while soldiers tried to keep traffic moving.


Egyptian beats pregnant wife to death for not voting for Mursi
An Egyptian plumber in Alexandria beat his pregnant wife to death upon learning that she had not voted for Muslim Brotherhood presidential candidate Mohammed Mursi, reported the Egyptian daily al-Wafd on Sunday.

According to police reports, the initial argument between the couple who was not named escalated into violence, despite her pleas. Battered and bruised, she was reported to have died at the hospital from injuries sustained.

Domestic fights have dominated Egyptian news headlines when the bid fell on the two most feared and most controversial candidates, Mursi and former prime minister Ahmed Shafiq.
