I guess I’m against a tide here, but we all know some women lie about rape, all we have to do is remember the Duke LaCross debacle.

Secondly, of course his comment about the woman’s body shutting down a pregnancy during a violent act is an old argument dating back to the Roe v. Wade debate. Apparently, via Michelle Malkin, that argument has been shut down.

However, the fact that he believes it, to what extent, I don’t know, he did say that, “as I understand it,” which is a qualifier for the following sentence.

I do not call, as Malkin does, Akin’s remarks, “garbled nonsense.” It was what he believes, to the extent of what he understands from doctors.

Being on the end of the pitchfork with the Obama campaign, Akin is taking a huge hit with Obama coming out right off the bat today at his ‘surprise’ press conference, towing the feminist line of “men shouldn’t legislate for women.” Akin has obviously taken the advice of campaign geniuses to say that it was, “one word in one sentence,” as I just heard on the Sean Hannity radio show.

This is only an issue because the Republican party is afraid of confronting the issue of abortion. Those social issues, they have implied, should play second fiddle.

If I was in Missouri, I would still vote for Akin, and defend him to the hilt, because I know what the Democrats will now do. They will replay that comment over and over.

My problem with the Republican party telling him he has 24 hours to get out of the race, (in so many words) is that here we are again, cow-towing to what the left is going to do, rather than what we will do.

McCasgiill has got to go, whoever takes her out of office works for me.

No matter how abhorrent the deed that created the pregnancy the unborn child cannot inherit the crime of the father; he/she is innocent and the right to use property (your own body) could not possibly permit a mother to deliberately torture or harm what has yet to be born as some form of sadistic retribution or retaliation against the father. Needless to say an abortion goes even further because it kills the speechless, the defenseless and the innocent. In liberaldom there are chasms of differences between legality and morality. There are laws which prohibit prostitution and yet freedom to sell body services is never viewed the same way as an unwanted pregnancy. Socialized medicine stands between a doctor and his patient and despite the fact that the patient (their body) is often prevented from receiving the care they need and when they need it, once again, that is never viewed as a right the way abortion is. The same is true of the time a person must forceable spend to earn a living for others. Dittos for the right to use other property (their own) in a fashion that benefits them.

Bill Clinton the philandering accused rapist, Ted Kennedy, too drunk to save his date on that fateful night, Smith, Spitzer, McGreevy, and countless others have been protected by the media and their political buddies for what they have done as opposed to just an outspoken opinion regarding morality yet the double standard is resistant to any and all explanations by those trained never to see and understand the most basic concepts of physiology and the real rights of mankind. And because of this conservatives know they have to lose this battle in order to win the war. We have to suck it up because the next in line must beat the incumbent super lib; and he/she will most likely be a RINO that we also detest. This time around the necessity to win control of the Senate, which permits us to undo ObamaCare and other laws passed by the 111th Congress, takes priority.

The sad part is that the comment was unnecessary. It did not need to be said just before an election. Only Joe Biden and his dumber superior can get away with saying anything that comes to mind. Republicans and especially conservatives must understand that anything they say will be used against them and any explanations they offer to undo the perception is only likely to make things worse. Kinda like Romney offering additional tax returns to provide info that will only give them something else to take us off message, keep us on the ropes and run out the clock.

I agree with both Jen & Task. Atkins should have been more savvy, running as a GOP for an important senate seat held by a woman, he should have been prepared for an abortion issue mine field. He clearly choked, even though I understood what he was trying to say. But I've been in the "battle" for a 20 years. There's a lot of newbies finally listening!
Task's very well articulated comment gets to the bottom line, get rid of McGaskill!!!
