I know, I don’t want to think of it either, but when the report came through last week from a Lebanese news service, it was interpreted to mean that Ambassador Stevens was possibly raped.

The title of the report is, “Killed the U.S. ambassador to Libya and reportedly raped sexually before acting on the body,” and says,

Sources said that “the U.S. ambassador to Libya was raped sexually before killing by gunmen who stormed the embassy building in Benghazi last night to protest against the film is offensive to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh),” The sources said that “Ambassador was killed and representation of his body in a manner similar to what happened with Gaddafi ahead kill him. ” has reported: kill the U.S. ambassador in Libya Christopher Stevens and three Americans in an attack on Tuesday evening 09/11/2012 the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, also announced Wednesday a senior official at the Interior Ministry Libyan told AFP.

Now, the key to this is that we can’t believe anyone. However, the line, “Ambassador was killed and representation of his body in a manner similar to what happened with Gaddafi ahead kill him.” indicates the possibility of rape, because Gaddafi was raped and drug through the streets. That is the line, in my view, that warranted the title.

The photos and video (H/T Dan Riehl) of Ambassador being taken out of the building shows his lifeless body, and shouts of Alluah Akbar rise up as the people in the doorway see it is him.

There are reports that the translation of the video shows that the people in it were trying to help the Ambassador, which would fit into the State Department’s suggestion that Stevens was then carried to a local hospital.

However, the doctor at the hospital said that nobody knew it was Ambassador Stevens.

Ziad Abu Zeid said Stevens was brought to the Benghazi Medical Center by Libyans Tuesday night with no other Americans, and that initially no one realized he was the ambassador. Abu Zeid said Stevens had “severe asphyxia,” apparently from smoke inhalation, causing stomach bleeding, but had no other injuries.

So the answer is, we don’t know, but the report is out there, and this is Libya, and the act has been done before.
