In an this weekend, Colin Powell was asked what can be done about the divisive tone in Washington DC. Powell answered with a flippant, shallow suggestion that our Founders found a way to compromise during our most difficult times when establishing the Constitution.
Powell would have you believe that the tone in the room while hashing out the Constitution was demure, moderated, and refined. He would also have you believe that what is happening in DC right now is tantamount to creating the Constitution when it is actually dissolving it.
Perhaps Powell thinks all speech can be moderated and smoothed and brought to compromise on terms equal to giving in. He could be right considering the appalling lack of backbone present in those sent by the people in 2010 to stop the madness. But since it is our backs that DC is breaking, we strive together to force them to represent us.
Powell suggests that he knows that the tea party point of view is “no compromise.” He is wrong. It is more correct to say, “don’t compromise on principle.” But since Powell endorsed and presumably voted for Obama, the most radical-left extreme President this country has ever seen, I doubt he has any principles left.
What Powell cringes over is the fact that “the candid world” is speaking up. Americans all over the country have had it with the lack of principle in DC, and are trying to make certain that we will not lose the nation’s soul. However, Powell says that the media has to “help” bring the two sides in DC together, a suggestion so overtly against the First Amendment, it is shameful. The media is already clearly helping the administration.
For a country whose argument for declaring it’s independence from a sovereign is filled with “facts submitted to a candid world,” this nation’s founding documents would never be allowed to be held up to our current President within the walls of Congress. For that reason, Congress enjoys single-digit favorability.
The freedom of speech cannot be abridged, that means you cannot stop us, Mr. Powell, and neither can Congress.
What has been said in the Declaration of Independence parallels with current times, yet speaking your mind is condemned by none other than those asked by the media to speak theirs. The media does not ask us what’s on our mind, instead it accepts the characterization given by a man who voted for the radical-left.
It is the radical-left who have brought us to this point, as well as those who have compromised with them. Since compromise has brought us to this point, let us look at some grievances we need redressed.
He (Obama) has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good. (Fast and Furious)
He has sued his Governors who pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance. (Arizona immigration law)
He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people. (Keystone pipeline)
He has obstructed the separation of powers, continuously acting without congressional approval.
He has made unelected czars accountable to no one, and paid by the people to subvert their wishes.
He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people cause them more hardship.
He has affected the Military to fight with no purpose, forbidding the language that describes radical Islam.
He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation.
He is ignoring our most valuable Laws and altering fundamentally the Form of our Government.
He is declaring himself invested with power to legislate for us.
He has regulated our ability to extract energy from our seas and destroyed the lives of our people.
He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and allowed them to trash our cities.
and on, and on…
Colin Powell, what part do you want to compromise with?
