Gas Prices Going Down Because Of Obama’s Crippling Economy

that in states like Michigan, Missouri, and Texas, gas prices will or are falling to below $3 a gallon seems like good news, until you realize the reason.

Prices for oil, gasoline and other commodities dropped last week along with world stock markets over concerns of another recession.

When economies slow, demand for fuel falls as drivers cut back on trips, shippers move fewer goods and vacationers stay closer to home.

Economists caution that gasoline savings, while welcome, won’t matter much to people if the worst economic fears come to pass.

‘Your bill at the gas pump goes down, but it’s going down because there are worries that people won’t have jobs,’ Professor James Hamilton, of the University of California in San Diego, said.

‘The news has not been good.’

Darn.

Meanwhile, Obama says that voting for a Republican next November will

“The only class warfare I’ve seen is the battle waged against the middle class,” he said.

Waged by who? The Republicans? How? Obama has been presiding over the worst economy the nation has ever seen. The green scams, the anti-drilling policies, the regulatory leviathan we have is only getting bigger under this POTUS.

As he goes from campaign stop to campaign stop, President Obama is trying to sell another stimulus to the middle class while we are afraid of losing more jobs like we did under the first.

Government Profits From Gasoline

Within a little over a week, gas in Northern Michigan jumped 18 cents per gallon. The Obama Administration is, as usual, demonizing the oil companies and their ‘record profits.’ I did a little research and want to share with you the profits of big government per gallon of gas.

The federal excise tax on gasoline is 18.4 cents per gallon.

Michigan road taxes are 19 cents per gallon.

But, here in Michigan, we also pay sales tax on a gallon of gas, not including the 19 cents paid for road tax.

According to the

“The ultimate total sales tax paid by the station is calculated by taking the retail price per gallon minus 19 cents (state road tax) divided by 17.67 (the denominator that accounts for the fact that sales tax is already included in the posted retail price). “

Which comes to 22.5 cents per gallon right now since gas here is $4.17 per gallon. That tax profit is up one cent since last week, per gallon.

Where is Congressman Dingell now? C’mon Dingell, ! That is your Democrat party always on the side of big government while punishing the poor.

So,, put together in January, is inaccurate because the price of gas has risen. We are paying 59.9 cents per gallon in taxes, and our federal government is attacking the oil companies and their “record profits.”

If we confiscated all profit from say, , gas would still be around $3.90 per gallon.

But then we wouldn’t have any gas, since without profit, Exxon Mobile would not exist.

**With a profit margin of 8.89%, Exxon takes somewhere around 36 cents of every gallon of gas. That amount goes up everytime the price of crude goes up.

Take a quarter for transportation, and a quarter for refining, and Exxon’s profits are about 27 cents. I’ve heard it’s much less than that, but for arguments sake, and until I see better info, that’s what I’m going with.**see update below

The state of Michigan’s profits go up everytime the gas prices go up too, due to our 6% sales tax.

So, for every gallon of gas, we pay the State 41.5 cents.

For every gallon of gas, we pay the Federal government 18.4 cents

For every gallon of gas, we pay companies who bring it to us about 25 cents.

For every gallon of gas, we pay the people who refine it 25 cents.

What I’m saying is, we pay more in taxes than oil companies make in ‘record profits.’

It is the government making record profits, and everytime the price goes up, the State of Michigan benefits.

We get gasoline from the big oil companies, and get shafted by the government.

UPDATE Friday April 29th, 2011 at 1:13 pm:
From

“For every gallon of gasoline, diesel or finished products we manufactured and sold in the United States in the last three months of 2010, we earned a little more than 2 cents per gallon. That’s not a typo. Two cents.”

So, now I have found my better info. Not 27 cents. TWO!

And not only that, our gas went up since this was first posted on Wednesday, April 27th at 6:28am to $4.21 per gallon.

So, if you are playing along at home, that means 22.75 cents is sales tax and puts taxation in Michigan on a gallon of gas is OVER 60 CENTS.

That is something to know.

If the State of Michigan got rid of the sales tax, we would be paying what we did two weeks ago, and the State would lose record profits.

If we took away the profits from oil companies like Exxon-Mobile, we would be paying more than what the price was yesterday.

There are many ways to analyze this, but any way you analyze it, ‘big oil’ isn’t the problem, and the President is lying again.

UPDATE Tuesday May 3rd, 2011 at 8:34 AM:
Gas is now $4.29 per gallon here in Northern Michigan, making the current amount of sales tax paid to the State of Michigan per gallon, 23.2 cents per gallon.

The total taxation on a gallon of gas in Northern Michigan right now is 60.06 cents per gallon. The State makes 42.2 cents and the federal government makes 18.4 cents.

I was asked yesterday where the rest of the money is going. There are too many factors, but it is clear the administration is not interested in increasing domestic supply, so I’ve made it a point to just keep an eye on the price and remind everyone that the government who is making over 60 cents per gallon is attacking the oil companies who only make 2 cents per gallon.

More Analysis of the Obama 8mpg Lying BS

Yeah, I got a lot to say about this clip. Here is the link again

Obama pointed out three things we can do to lower gas prices.
1) increase oil production
2) increase efficiency
3) switch to mass transit and electric/natural gas cars

Or, as he so eloquently said,

So, number one, increase oil production, but that’s not a short tuh, that’s not a long term, ahh a short term solution, and it’s not a long term solution either, it’ll just, it’ll help a little bit, number two, more efficient cars so we are using our gas more effectively, number three, shifting to electric cars and other forms of transportation so we don’t use oil as much.

His first sentence is so messed up, he doesn’t know what he is trying to say. I’m not adding stuff that isn’t there, go back and watch the clip, you’ll see I’m accurate.

He is the irresponsible one here. The man did not complain that he cannot afford the gas prices, he just wanted to know if there is anything that can be done to lower them.

But Obama’s job is to be in charge of the largest economy in the world and make sure that his energy policy meets the needs of the populace. Otherwise, there is no need for an Energy Department.

But the stumbling in the first sentence that deals with “job number 1” which is, “increase oil production,” betrays the fact that Obama does not want to have the responsibility of doing his job. He doesn’t want to increase the production, that is very clear and he suggests that drilling is neither a sh-short tuh-term no, not a long, short-tuh term solution. Any parent can see that he does not care about that first responsibility. Kids do that too. They stumble and we know they are lying. We just know these things.

He is much more comfortable saying what he thinks he already accomplished “number 2” and eases right into telling us what we should do in “number 3.”

This man has no business being in charge of anything.

The Left Does Not Separate Social Issues From Fiscal Issues

Obama thinks the man who wants lower gas prices is socially irresponsible. I can explain.

This is why the nation needs me. Nearly every right-side pundit who analyzed the exchange between Obama and the man in Pennsylvania about gas prices got it wrong.

A man asked the President about gas prices and wondered if there was anything we could do to bring them down. While trying to explain three steps to lowering the prices, Obama said this, (1:45-2:37)

………where most of our oil is used. Now, I noticed some folks clapped, but I know some of these big guys, they’re still all driving their big SUV’s they got their big monster trucks and everything, (pointing to man who asked him the question) You’re one of them? Now, here’s my point, you know, if you’re complaining about the price of gas, and you only gettin’ 8 miles a gallon, (looks around for support, chuckles some more) you know, you may have a big family, but it’s probably not that big, (laughs some more) so, how many do you have, ten kids you say, ten kids? (Big smile, looks incredulous, disbelieving, long pause) Well, you definitely need a hybrid van then. (laughs in crowd, guffaws) Ha! But, here’s the thing is that, last year for the first time….

I first found the youtube clip of this exchange at .

Obama is having fun with the man. He picked a number like 8 mpg out of the air, suggested “big guys” are just being macho, and laughed at the gentleman and then laughed when he found out the guy had 10 kids.

What Obama said was, the fellow was irresponsible for driving an SUV when there are hybrid vehicles to buy that get better mileage. Then he said that the man was irresponsible for having ten kids.

You didn’t hear that?

and read my transcription. Just make two windows, do it simultaneously. He was looking around and laughing at the fellow because he couldn’t afford gas to cart his ten kids around in and SUV. To a snob elitist like Obama, this man is obviously uneducated and a fool. To a snob elitist like Obama, the man deserves no empathy because he is the fool who got himself in this predicament. Who has 10 children these days anyway? Why does this guy think he has any right to complain after overcrowding our schools and using all that water, creating all that carbon? He has no one to blame but himself, the fool, for being exactly what this country does not need. We already use 25% of the world’s oil and this fool has just exacerbated the problem by bringing all these kids to life.

Obama said this a little earlier in the clip,

What we can do is increase the amount of oil production here in the United States. but here is the thing about oil. We have about 2-3% of the world’s proven oil reserves, we use 25% of the worlds oil. so, think about it, even if we doubled the amount of oil that we produce, we’d still be short by a factor of 5.

And here is this fool who has increased by a factor of 5 the necessary amount of children in his household. What an irresponsible fool. He is making it harder on all of us. He is part of the stupidity of Americans who cannot understand that we need to reduce, not increase our consumption!

That is exactly what Obama did.

Yet nearly every right-side pundit out there focused on the mathematical aspect of this exchange. Some on the right are trying to tear the social issues away from the base, claiming that they do not matter in defeating Obama.

Here is what I’m pointing out. The left does not separate social issues from fiscal issues. Their ideology is complete and intertwined. To them, everything that an individual chooses to do that incurs an increase of production of the whole society is irresponsible and reckless. To them, it does not matter that the man was willing to earn enough to provide for his family, it only matters that he shouldn’t have had such a burdensome family to begin with.

Obama Energy Policy Intended To Bring US Down

You know, “level the playing field…”

titled, “Drill, Brazil, Drill” about how the President of the United States of America is encouraging Brazil to drill for oil so we can import it.

last Tuesday titled, “The $4-Per-Gallon President” about how the President of the United States of America is using all means necessary to stop the drilling of oil in America that would help us become less dependent on foreign sources and improve the economy.

Here are some dueling excerpts:

IBD: While leaving U.S. oil and jobs in the ground, our itinerant president tells a South American neighbor that we’ll help it develop its offshore resources so we can one day import its oil. WHAT?!?

Palin: The “Administration is not a passive observer to the trends that have inflated oil prices to dangerous levels. His war on domestic oil and gas exploration and production has caused us pain at the pump, endangered our already sluggish economic recovery, and threatened our national security.”

IBD: But in the process of making nice with Brazil, Obama made a mind-boggling announcement that should make even his most loyal supporter cringe:

We will help Brazil develop its offshore oil so we can one day import it.

Palin: If we let Harry Reid keep his “cowboy poetry,” would the White House consider letting us drill?

IBD: Now, with a seven-year offshore drilling ban in effect off of both coasts, on Alaska’s continental shelf and in much of the Gulf of Mexico — and a de facto moratorium covering the rest — Obama tells the Brazilians:

“We want to help you with the technology and support to develop these oil reserves safely. And when you’re ready to start selling, we want to be one of your best customers.”

Palin: The U.S. Geological Survey found that the area north of the Arctic Circle has an estimated 90 billion barrels of technically recoverable oil and 1,670 trillion cubic feet of technically recoverable natural gas, one third of which is in Alaskan territory. That’s our next Prudhoe Bay right there. According to one industry study, allowing Royal Dutch Shell to tap these reserves in Alaska’s Chukchi and Beaufort seas would create an annual average of 54,700 jobs nationwide with a $145 billion total payroll and generate an additional $193 billion in total revenues to local, state, and federal governments over 50 years. This would be great news if only the federal government would allow Shell to drill there. But it won’t.

If you think $4 a gallon is bad now, just wait till the next crisis causes oil prices to “necessarily” skyrocket.

IBD: Obama wants to develop Brazilian offshore oil to help the Brazilian economy create jobs for Brazilian workers while Americans are left unemployed in the face of skyrocketing energy prices by an administration that despises fossil fuels as a threat to the environment and wants to increase our dependency on foreign oil.

Palin: Shell announced last month that it has given up hope of obtaining the required permits to conduct exploratory drilling this year. That means no jobs and no billions in oil revenue from the Arctic anytime soon thanks to this Administration.

IBD: In an op-ed in USA Today explaining his trip, Obama opined: “Brazil holds recently discovered oil reserves that “could be” far larger than ours. And as we seek to increase secure-energy supplies, we look forward to developing a strategic energy partnership.”

Palin: 90 billion barrels of “technically recoverable” oil and 1,670 trillion cubic feet of “technically recoverable” natural gas,

IBD: Yet in his alleged quest for “secure-energy supplies,” he refuses to develop oil and natural gas resources in U.S. waters. His administration has locked up areas in the West where oil shale reserves are estimated to be triple Saudi Arabia’s reserves of crude. His administration is even stalling on plans to build a pipeline to deliver oil from Canada’s tar sands to the U.S. market.

Palin: Taken altogether, it’s hard to deny that the Obama Administration is anti-drilling.

IBD: We suggest that President Obama return home and start worrying about an unapologetic American renaissance in which we focus more on American energy and American jobs and less on mythical environmental hazards and foreign accolades.

Palin: 2012 can’t come soon enough.
